Cops detain man for pepper-spraying couple Seremban 2

SEREMBAN: Police have detained a 50-year-old man for allegedly pepper-spraying a couple.

Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Yatim Osman said the suspect was detained outside his house around 11.45pm on Tuesday (June 1).

A couple was travelling in a car when they noticed another car tailing them in Seremban 2 around 6pm on Monday (May 31).

The other car overtook the couple's car and abruptly blocked their path a short distance later, Osman said in a statement.

The unidentified suspect then got out of his car and started provoking the couple before pepper-spraying them.

The couple lodged a report after experiencing stinging and itching over their bodies.

Checks showed that the suspect had three previous records for drug abuse, Osman said, adding that the couple later sought outpatient treatment at the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital.

ACP Osman said police also seized a pepper spray can from the suspect.

Police will apply for a remand order against the suspect today (June 2), he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Corrosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
