BATU PAHAT: The body of a fisherman who went missing after the boat he was in capsized here has been found.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said the victim, identified as Chia Hock Neng, 60, was found after the boat drifted about 500m to the Parit Hailam beach.

"The body was removed at 4.40pm on Wednesday (Sept 28) with the help of the Rengit Fire and Rescue Department, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Batu Pahat and Senggarang Police Station.

"The body was then sent to the Batu Pahat Maritime Jetty at 5.40pm before being sent to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital for further action," he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Rengit Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Othman Mohd Baher said that the body was found stuck in a net inside the engine room.

"We deployed 22 personnel to the location, including nine water rescue units (PPDA) to help with the rescue operation.

"The deceased is the second fisherman who was reported missing 14 days ago," he said.
