SEREMBAN: A medical student from Bangladesh claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to 12 charges of producing and being in possession of child pornography.
Zobaidul Amin, 24, a student at a private university here, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to him before Judge Surita Budin.
For the first eight charges, he was accused of directing or producing child pornography using the Snapchat application.
Zobaidul was charged under Section 5 of the Sexual Offences Against Children 2017.
For the next four charges, he was charged with being in possession of 740 digital images containing child pornography in his mobile phone, USB drive and hard disk.

He was charged under Section 10 of the same legislation for the offences.
He allegedly committed the offences at a house in Bukit Rasah near here between Oct 26, 2021 and Sept 19 this year.
Deputy public prosecutor Zahida Zakaria urged the court not to allow bail, as the alleged offences were serious.
She said if bail was granted, the accused would probably produce more child pornography or harass the victims.
Counsel for the accused, Harvindar Singh asked the court to allow bail, as it was allowed.

Surita then allowed a bail of RM8,000 for each offence with two sureties.
The accused was also told to report to the nearest police station every month and not to harass the victims or witnesses.
She also fixed Nov 30 for remention.

On Wednesday (Sept 21), Police secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said that the suspect was arrested on Monday (Sept 19) in Seremban.
The suspected online child predator was arrested following a joint investigation with the FBI.
She said investigations showed that the suspect had used social media to communicate and trap his victims.
He would then “sextort” his victims.
All victims have been found to have been from overseas.
