Police records statement from individuals in connection ‘Mana Kapal LCS’ protest


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded statements from 13 individuals in connection with the Mana Kapal LCS protest on Sunday (Aug 14).

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the 13 included Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

The former youth and sports minister was among 10 people including activist Siti Kasin who had their statements recorded on Wednesday (Aug 17).

ACP Noor Delhan said they were now completing the investigation papers.

"We may call more people to have their statements recorded if the need arises," he said when contacted on Wednesday.

Syed Saddiq meanwhile called for a special parliamentary sitting to discuss the direction of national defence issues.

Speaking to the reporters before entering the Dang Wangi police headquarters, he said a bipartisan cooperation could be achieved to find a middle ground and direction for national defence.

"This is so that even if there is a change of government, when it comes to military spending it could be done fairly and efficiently.

"The planning must involve all parties and cannot be short-term as it involves billions of ringgit," he said, adding that a royal commission of inquiry and prosecutions were necessary in connection with the issue.
