Tajuddin himself should know why he was removed, says Ahmad Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman should not be surprised over his removal as Umno supreme council member, says party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said the Pasir Salak MP himself should know the reasons behind his removal.

“You (the media) have to ask him what statements he had made, whether at ceramahs or closed-door meetings.

“He definitely knows what he did,” said Ahmad Zahid, adding that a supreme council member should respect the party's decision and resolution.

"A resolution has to be abided by. We can differ in opinion, but once a decision is made by the party, we have to toe the party's line, not otherwise," he said after launching Barisan Nasional Youth Job Fair 2022 here on Friday (June 24).

"It is unfair if I tell you why. But, surely, he knows what he did to the party," said Ahmad Zahid and added Tajuddin would not be able to appeal the decision.

"Appeals for membership can be made. But, appeals for appointed positions, I think, can't be done,” he said.

Tajuddin’s termination as the council member was made through a letter dated June 21 from Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

No reason was stated for the move.

In July last year, the new Malaysian ambassador to Indonesia was dropped as the Umno elections director and replaced with deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
