Harith Iskandar, Immigration DG in Twitter back-and-forth over 2018 joke

PETALING JAYA: Immigration Dept director-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud has a bone to pick with comedian Harith Iskander over the latter's joke about Immigration counters at KLIA.

Harith recently shared a snippet from his 2018 Netflix stand-up comedy special I Told You So, where he quipped about the "difference" between Singapore’s Changi airport Immigration services and Malaysia's.

Khairul Dzaimee, however, was quick to rebut, saying on Twitter that the comedian was spreading misleading information.

“This is misleading, Harith,” Khairul said on Wednesday (March 2).

Harith responded to Khairul’s tweet by saying that the clip was meant for comedy and not a parliamentary debate.

Khairul Dzaimee, however, stood his ground and said that while he knows it was only meant as a joke, Harith should be fair when presenting information to the public.

"I know, but the information matters, be fair," he replied.

In the 52sec clip, Harith jokes about how Singapore would have 20 Immigration counters, all of them manned by officers.

“Ladies and gentlemen, (at) KLIA, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, we have also got 20 counters. Two open,” he says in the clip.
