Explore global pathways at Sunway International Schools

A CHILD’S future begins with the foundation built at school.

More than a place for academic learning, school is where young minds discover their strengths, develop their values and learn to navigate the world around them.

At Sunway International Schools (SIS), this belief lies at the heart of its ‘values for life’ philosophy – an approach that goes beyond the classroom to nurture well-rounded individuals equipped to make a meaningful difference in the world.

This philosophy comes to life through a holistic education that involves student development programmes, leadership opportunities and co-curricular activities.

The development of creative, intellectually critical and socially responsible individuals is at the heart of its educational experience.

SIS offers diverse international education pathways across its two campuses. At Sunway City Kuala Lumpur, the school offers the Canadian (Ontario) pathway and the British pathway, also known as the Sunway Cambridge International Programme.

At Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, Johor, SIS is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum School, offering the IB pathway from Primary Years through to Diploma and Career-related programmes.

Student success

These diverse pathways open doors to remarkable futures, as exemplified by SIS student Misaki Kodama, 17. Awarded a full IB scholarship, her journey reflects the school’s dedication to recognising and empowering students who demonstrate exceptional academic potential.

“Receiving the scholarship gave me confidence in myself, knowing that someone believed in my abilities,” she said.

She said attending SIS helped her cultivate the mindset needed to succeed in the IB programme.

“I have become more comfortable taking on challenges and I am less afraid of getting things wrong. My experience at SIS helped me realise that it is okay to ask for help. I learned that I often understand things better after making mistakes and learning from them.”

She hopes to leverage the IB programme to gain a broader understanding of different scientific fields and how they can be applied to environmental conservation.

“As I go through the IB programme, I hope to build the knowledge and skills needed for university and my future career. I want to challenge myself and make the most of every learning opportunity."

Beyond academic excellence, the school places equal emphasis on supporting students in their passions outside the classroom. SIS student Goh Yu Ruey, 9, highlights this commitment through her outstanding performance at the International Junior Golf Tournament.

Yu Ruey’s parents expressed gratitude for the school’s support towards her golfing pursuits.

“As she becomes more involved in international golf tournaments, balancing school, training and competitions can sometimes be challenging.

“What we appreciate most is that SIS understands that golf is an important part of her development, while also making sure that her education remains a priority. The school has given her the flexibility and encouragement she needs to manage both,” said Yu Ruey’s mother.

Through the school’s nurturing environment, she noted, Yu Ruey has become better at planning her time, organising her schoolwork and taking responsibility for her commitments.

“For us as parents, it is reassuring to know that she is in an environment where she can pursue her passion for golf while continuing to grow academically,” she said.

These cases show that with the right environment, students can successfully cultivate their unique talents and achieve extraordinary success in both academics and athletics.
