Christina Liew: I will remain with PKR

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PKR chairman Datuk Christina Liew has denied claims being made on social media that she and Inanam assemblyman Peto Galim are joining a new party allegedly being set up by Warisan vice-president Datuk Peter Anthony.

"No, I am with PKR and will remain with PKR," said Liew when contacted on Monday (Dec 27).

The Api Api assemblyman and Tawau MP said Peto was also firmly with the party and added that rumours associating them are untrue.

"I don't know about Peter's (plan to set up a party)," she said.

Peter is anticipated to leave Warisan on Tuesday (Dec 28) and is expected to announce the formation of a local party.

However, Peter has not made any comments on the issue, though party officials privately admit that there is a likelihood that the founding Warisan leader might leave. He is expected to hold a press conference here on Tuesday.

In a statement earlier, Sabah PKR Youth information chief Razeef Rakimin asked those being named on social media to come forward and clear the air.

"I have been aware of this rumour for the past few days but it is better that any confirmation or denial is made by the individual mentioned," he said in a statement.

Razeef said that many people were seeking clarification on "rumours" over claims they were planning to form a new local party, speculated to be led by Peter.

Peter has not responded to the speculation that he was leaving Warisan and to claims that he was forming a new party.
