Abang Jo: GPS to announce manifesto on Wednesday (Dec 8)

KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will be announcing its party manifesto for the 12th Sarawak state election on Wednesday (Dec 8), says GPS chairman Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

"We will be announcing our manifesto on Dec 8," he said after attending a presentation of candidacy appointment letters for GPS candidates in the Sarawak election here on Friday (Dec 3).

GPS comprises Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Parti Demokratik Progresif (PDP).

The Election Commission (EC) has set the nomination of candidates for Sarawak election on Dec 6, early voting on Dec 14 and polling day on Dec 18.

Commenting on the theme or agenda to be carried by GPS to administer Sarawak, Abang Johari said the coalition would be adopting the theme "Sarawak First".

Elaborating further, he said the theme among others is based on the digital economy and sustainable economy.

"GPS is taking the theme "Sarawak First’ and the economic vision is grounded on the new economy namely digital economy ( to give focus ) to sustainability and the environment,” he said.
