Fighter jet mishap: Co-pilot recuperating in hospital after surgery, says his dad

BUTTERWORTH: Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) co-pilot Mej Mohd Fareez Omar, who underwent surgery at Seberang Jaya Hospital on Wednesday (Nov 17), is gradually recovering.

His father, retired Air Force Mej Omar Deros, 62, said his son was recuperating well at the moment.

"Alhamdullilah, although he can only lie down, he is getting better, can eat and drink," he said on Sunday (Nov 21).

He said his son was still receiving treatment for his injuries.

On Tuesday (Nov 16), Kapt Mohamad Affendi Bustamy, 31, was killed while Mej Mohd Fareez was injured when the Hawk fighter jet they were flying crashed during a night training exercise at the RMAF base in Teluk Ayer Tawar.
