KUALA LUMPUR: Health enforcement officers will be keeping a close tabs on Datuk Seri Najib Razak during the Melaka state polls after a video surfaced allegedly showing the Pekan MP flouting Covid-19 regulations while in the state.
The matter was raised to the attention of Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin when he was replying to issues on Budget 2022 in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 17).
"Of course, Pekan (Najib) is within my attention always, every day, and I will inform the enforcement side," Khairy said in response to the issue raised by RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) in Dewan Rakyat.
Rayer claimed that there was a video on social media allegedly showing Najib signing his autograph on a motorcycle while campaigning in the state polls.
Rayer offered to provide the video to Khairy, urging that action be taken against Najib for repeatedly flouting standard operating procedures (SOP).
He suggested that Najib should be slapped with the maximum RM50,000 fine imposed as a repeat offender.
Khairy merely responded cheekily saying: "Yeah, malu apa Bossku" (what is there to be ashamed of, my boss) to Rayer's offer.
Najib is associated with the moniker Bossku, which has since become a nickname among supporters after the general election in 2018.
He was recently spotted not observing physical distancing in several photographs at a Barisan Nasional event in Asahan, Melaka.
The event organiser was subsequently fined RM20,000 for failing to ensure social distancing at the event.
