SEREMBAN: There will be no "honeymoon" period for Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob following his appointment as Prime Minister, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

The Umno deputy president congratulated the Bera MP and said Ismail Sabri will have to immediately start work on improving the economy and addressing the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Now that he is PM, he will have to live up to the expectations of the people.

"He has to hit the ground running, as there is simply no time for a honeymoon," he said when contacted.

Mohamad said Ismail Sabri also needs to give special focus on managing Covid-19 with record cases being registered in recent days.

"We will have to put our heads together to come out of this.

"We must give priority to the wellbeing of the people and the country," he added.
