Ismail Sabri’s appointment as PM stabilises political uncertainty, says Melaka CM

MELAKA: The appointment of Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as Prime Minister stabilises the political uncertainty and this is crucial as the country continues to battle the ravages of the Covid-19 pandemic, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali (pic).

“It’s important for the state administration to be strong and united in resolving the hardship faced by the people.

“I am happy that the state machinery could now focus on bringing down Covid-19 cases and reopening the economic and tourism sectors,” he said in congratulating the Bera MP on Friday (Aug 20).

State executive councillor Datuk Seri Idris Haron also congratulated Ismail Sabri for becoming the ninth Prime Minister in the nation's history, saying the appointment "brings great relief for some Umno lawmakers in the state”.

The state rural development, flood management and green technology committee chairman declined to elaborate on his statement.

It’s an open secret that some Umno lawmakers in the state felt they had been neglected and there was talk previously that a few disillusioned Umno assemblymen were planning to topple the Perikatan Nasional-led state government.

Idris said Ismail Sabri has taken the helm of the country at a very challenging time.

"However, I am confident he will be able to address the Covid-19 related problems effectively and lead the recovery of the country’s economy,” he added.
