PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded 16,840 new cases of Covid-19, the Health Ministry confirmed on Friday (June 30).
The country has now has a cumulative total of 1,095,486 infections to date.

Selangor remains the state with the highest number of cases with 6,092 infections.
Case figures in other states are as follows: Kuala Lumpur (2,114 cases), Kedah (1,281), Johor (1,104), Negri Sembilan (1,079), Sabah (1,066), Perak (810), Penang (689), Kelantan (656), Melaka (581), Pahang (540), Sarawak (450), Terengganu (258), Putrajaya (100), Perlis (13) and Labuan (seven).
In the same 24-hour span, 134 more people died from Covid-19.
Malaysia’s Covid-19 death toll is now 8,859.
There were 12,179 patients discharged in the same period.
Total recoveries are now 902,921 - or 82.42% of all cases.
There are 183,706 active cases across the country currently.
Of that figure, 1,055 are in intensive care units (ICU) and 532 are on ventilator support.
