Covid-19: Nine clusters, 450 new cases in Sarawak


SIBU: Sarawak reported nine clusters and 450 new Covid-19 cases on Friday (July 30), according to the state disaster management committee.

It said the new clusters contributed a total of 273 cases, adding that no deaths were reported.

Kuching continues to record three digit-cases at 191. Samarahan recorded 50 cases followed by Serian (36), Bintulu (27), Simunjan (26), Saratok (25), Sibu (20), Asajaya (17), Tatau (13), Miri and Lundu (nine each), Kabong (six), Bau (five), Kapit and Tebedu (three each), Julau (two) while Sarikei, Meradong, Betong and Lawas have one each.

"Of the new cases, 297 were detected from close contact screenings; 67 from screenings of individuals from existing active clusters; 41 from screenings of symptomatic individuals at health facilities; 42 from other screenings at health facilities and three import cases involving individuals coming from Labuan, Negri Sembilan and Kuala Lumpur,” it said.

A total of 158 patients had recovered over the last 24 hours.
