Penang cops stop wedding reception being held during lockdown


BUTTERWORTH: Police stopped a wedding reception here from continuing which was being held in violation of the lockdown.

North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said police carrying out a standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance operation in the district came across the reception on Friday (June 11).

ACP Noorzainy said police found 19 family members and a photographer in the house.

ACP Noorzainy said the father of the groom, the organiser of the reception and a cameraman were issued compound notices of RM2, 000 each.

ACP Noorzainy said the other 16 family members at the wedding reception were let off with a stern warning.

He said police also issued compounds to another 38 individuals including four women for various SOP violations during the operation
