Tajuddin to be issued RM1,500 compound notice for not wearing face mask at press conference

KUALA LUMPUR: Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (pic) will be issued a RM1,500 compound notice for failing to wear a face mask during his press conference on the LRT collision.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the investigation papers were returned by the Attorney General's Chambers on Tuesday (June 8) with a decision to issue the RM1,500 compound notice.

"It was for committing an offence under Rule 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations. This was due to his failure to wear a face mask during a press conference on the LRT mishap at the KLCC station," he said in a statement on Wednesday (June 9).

He said the compound notice would be issued as soon as possible and advised members of the public to comply with the standard operating procedure set by the National Security Council to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tajuddin was questioned by police on May 27 for allegedly flouting the standard operating procedure (SOP) during a press conference recently.

He spent about an hour giving a statement to police before he was seen leaving the police headquarters at around 5.45pm.

Earlier on the same day, Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was seen entering the police headquarters at 12.30pm.

He said he spent around one and a half hours with investigators.

"The investigation is connected to the tweet I posted on Tajuddin,” he said.

He had said in a tweet that wearing a face shield without a face mask was a violation of the standard operating procedures under the current movement control order.

In the post, he included screenshots of two news reports, one with a photograph of Tajuddin and another with Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
