PUTRAJAYA: Police have nabbed 946 individuals for various standard operating procedure (SOP) violations, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Among the offences committed were for not wearing face masks (237), cross-border travel without permission (186), failure to register before entering premises (160), no physical distancing (156), failure to abide to the movement control order (71), ferrying excess passengers (62), premises not adhering to orders (14) and others (59).
Of those arrested on Thursday (June 3), 924 individuals were slapped with compound notices and 22 were remanded.
The task force monitoring SOP compliance had checked 86,055 premises on Thursday, including supermarkets, restaurants, factories, banks, government offices and hawker centres.
Also checked were wet markets and pasar tani, places of worship, recreational places and sea transport terminals.
On Ops Benteng, the Defence Minister said that 18 illegal immigrants were arrested and five land vehicles were seized during the June 3 operation,
“Enforcement authorities also detected the presence of 105 boats in Malaysian waters during 10 sighting activities,” he said Friday (June 4).
On screening of foreign workers, Ismail Sabri said that 84 individuals were screened on Thursday and eight were found to be positive for Covid-19.
Cumulatively, 698,270 foreign workers had been screened, involving 36,154 employers.
The government has made it mandatory for all foreign workers to be screened from Feb 1.
Ismail Sabri also said that 614 individuals had arrived in Malaysia on Tuesday (June 1) and all were sent to undergo quarantine at government-designated stations.
Since July 24 last year, a total of 218,051 individuals had returned to the country and were quarantined at 78 hotels and nine training institutes.
