Ismail Sabri: EMCO for several areas in Sabah, Pahang from June 6-19

PUTRAJAYA: Several localities in Sabah and Pahang will be placed under an enhanced movement control order after a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases were reported there.

The lockdown will take effect from June 6 to 19.

Three localities in Papar, Sabah - Kampung Gusi Kinarut, Kampung Tengah Kinarut and Kampung Benoni - will be under lockdown.

To date, 15 Covid-19 cases have been detected at Kampung Gusi Kinarut, Kampung Tengah Kinarut (eight) and five cases were detected at Kampung Benoni.

Lorong Ulu Sibuga 5 & 9 and Taman Mawar Phase 7 in Sandakan will also be under the enhanced MCO after health authorities detected 18 cases in the area.

Residents of Taman Wangsa in Kota Kinabalu will also have their movements restricted when the lockdown is enforced.

Health authorities have found nine cases from 12 screenings carried out on the residents.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the lockdown will also be enforced at Kampung Perpaduan in Pulau Banggi in Kudat after eight cases were found among residents.

The Defence Minister said that in Pahang, 14 localities around Bandar Bentong will be under the enhanced MCO where between May 17 and 21, health authorities recorded 209 cases from 914 screenings carried out.

The affected localities are Kampung Chamang Lama/Baru, Taman Bukit Chamang, Bentong Industrial Area, Kampung Baru/Taman Saga/Taman Bukit Indah, Kampung Sungai Marong and Taman Bukit Bentong.

Also to be placed under lockdown are Taman Hussin/Taman Syahbandar, Kampung Perting/Kampung Kemansur/Kampung Kuala Repas, Bentong Heights, Rumah Murah Batu 1/PPRT Batu 1, Taman Bentong Makmur, Taman Harmoni, Taman Kolej and Taman Desa Damai.
