Seniors register for second round of AstraZeneca opt-ins despite early glitches

PETALING JAYA: As registrations for the AstraZeneca vaccine for those aged 60 and above opened up at noon Sunday (May 23), social media was flooded with questions from users as they faced technical problems in signing up their elderly parents or family members.

As at 12.20pm, Internet users were complaining that they were unable to click on the "state" option on the www.vaksincovid.gov.my website.

On Twitter, user @minrazak_ asked: "I want to register AstraZeneca for my parents but why is the system stuck?"

@vnisvdrinv_ concurred, saying,"Registering for the AstraZeneca vaccine but I can't even click on the "state"? Trying to register for my dad."

Users have also tweeted their predicament to Coordinating Minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Khairy Jamaluddin, who has yet to respond.

Minutes later, as of 12.28pm, Twitter users who finally managed to register their parents, shared their success.

@petrifique tweeted,"Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), done registering AstraZeneca for my parents."

Other users also reported that they managed to register their parents after about 30 minutes in.

In a tweet at about 12.35pm, the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force confirmed that the AstraZeneca appointment booking website was "back up and running".

It also apologised for any inconvenience caused.
