PETALING JAYA: The second round of the voluntary AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine opt-in registration, which prioritises seniors aged 60 and above, will open at noon Sunday (May 23) with the injections to be administered from June 7 to July 27.
The voluntary programme - which will be on a first-come, first-served opt-in basis for seniors in the Klang Valley, Johor, Penang and Sarawak - will see a total of 1,240,000 doses of the vaccine being offered.
The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) in a statement said on Saturday (May 22) that the first dose of the vaccine would be given at eight AstraZeneca Vaccine Administration Centres (PPVAZ).
The PPVAZ involved include those at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre, Penang; Persada Johor International Convention Centre, Johor Baru; Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, and Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara Miri, Sarawak.
The others are at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur; Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur; Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Selangor and Ideal Convention Centre, Shah Alam, Selangor.
Bookings can be made via https://vaksincovid.gov.my.
The CITF also encourages the young to assist the elderly in booking the appointment slots for vaccination to ease the process for them.
After May 26, the spots that are not taken up by senior citizens will be opened to those below the age of 60.
Meanwhile, those who had registered in the first round of the AstraZeneca opt-in registration on May 2 and were put on the waiting list, will be automatically included in this round of the vaccination exercise.
During the first round of voluntary opt-in for AstraZeneca, which was made available to only Klang Valley residents, all 268,000 slots were fully booked in less than four hours.
