Covid-19: St Michael primary school in Ipoh closed for two days


IPOH: SK St Michael primary school in Ipoh has been ordered to close for at least two days after a Covid-19 case is believed to be detected at the premises.

In a message sent to parents and caretakers, the school has been ordered to close from Tuesday (May 4) and May 5, where the opening date will be announced later.

A call made to the school has confirmed the temporary closure.

The school will conduct online classes throughout the closure.

To date, Perak has recorded nearly 15,000 of total cases with 59 new cases recorded on Monday (May 3).

When contacted, Perak Education Committee Chairman Ahmad Saidi Mohamad Daud confirmed the temporary closure of SK St Michael following a positive Covid-19 case recorded at the school.

Ahmad Saidi said the health district department is currently making an assessment risk at the school from today (May 4) until May 5.

“Based on the updated information I received, the health district department is also conducting close contact tracing and sanitisation at the premises,” he said.
