Lost poodle reunited with owner after road heroes rescue it from busy traffic

PETALING JAYA: A posse of delivery riders and other motorcyclists embarked on an impromptu mission to rescue a poodle running amid busy traffic in Kuala Lumpur.

Their repeated efforts to corral the dog on the road so it could be rescued was captured in a viral video yesterday.

The clip included an amusing scene of six motorcyclists seemingly guiding the running poodle, to prevent it from being run over by other vehicles.

At one point, one of the motorcyclists was seen alighting from his bike and running after the dog.

The man was seen lunging at the dog but ended up falling flat on the road as the dog escaped his grasp.

The unidentified car passenger who took the suspenseful two-minute clip could be heard rooting for the rescuers and the poodle.

The dog’s owner Steven Chong, in a Facebook post, said his poodle was eventually rescued by one of the motorcyclists, whom he identified as Siva.

Chong said he was grateful to Siva, adding that it broke his heart to see his poodle, Dafi, running aimlessly on the streets and looking scared.

“I really teared up. It had been 10 days since Dafi went missing, ” he said.

Chong said he had sent Dafi for pet boarding in Taman Segar, Cheras, as he had to go outstation for work.

“I was informed on April 14 that they had lost my dog after accidentally leaving the door open, ” he said.

Facebook user Nora Affandi applauded all those involved in Dafi’s rescue.

“Awh thank you Mr Riders, God bless you all. I hope little Dafi is recovering, he must have been traumatised, ” she said.

Another user, Ngan Yue Chan, said that it was really heartwarming to see Malaysians coming together to help rescue the poodle.

“They have hearts of gold, ” she said.

Another facebook user, Skye Young Walker, also expressed her thanks to the rescuers.

“Thank you for making sure it was taken off the dangerous road.”

Cy Khaw said: “All the riders and those who helped in rescuing Dafi are all heroes. Blessings of only the best to all of you and your families.”
