Terengganu closes trekking routes, eco-forest parks ahead of monsoon season

KUALA TERENGGANU: All Eco-Rimba Park areas, hiking trails, and recreational activities in the Permanent Reserved Forest (PRF) areas under the Terengganu Forestry Department will be temporarily closed to the public starting Nov 1.

State director Ramli Mat said that the measure is to avoid the risk of flash floods and unwanted incidents following the arrival of the Northeast Monsoon.

"These involve all areas of eco-forest parks, hiking trails, and recreational activities including trekking, off-roading, and so on within the PRF in the state.

"These areas will be closed until a date that will be announced later. The Terengganu State Forestry Department will provide updates from time to time," he said when contacted on Friday (Oct 23).

He advised the public against entering the affected areas and to comply with the instructions issued by the authorities to avoid penalties or action under the National Forestry (Adoption) Enactment 1986. - Bernama
