Make police report fast, Ismail Sabri tells Zahid

MELAKA: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should quickly lodge a police report over the voice recording allegedly involving him, says Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the police report is crucial to clear the air over the recording allegedly between PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Umno chief.

"The president has promised to lodge a police report through his representative and hopefully, he does it as soonest to avoid any misconception and confusion over the issue," Ismail Sabri said after opening a training programme that was attended by Umno divisional leaders from Negri Sembilan and Melaka at a hotel here on Friday night (April 9).

Ismail Sabri, who is also Senior Minister, said it is learnt that several police reports were lodged over the issue.

He said the reports lodged so far were only made by party members and added that the president needs to act fast and lodge a report.

"Some claimed the voice recording was fake while there were also few stating it was genuine. Anyway, only the police can determine the authenticity of the voice recording," Ismail Sabri added.

Asked on calls by certain Umno members calling for Ahmad Zahid to quit his position, he said the party practises democracy, adding that the the party leadership can't stop anyone from voicing their views and disgruntlement.
