Give police space to probe audio clip, says Umno veep

PASIR GUDANG: The police should be given room to do their job in investigating the audio clip of an alleged conversation between Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, says an Umno vice-president.

"We just want to know the truth," said Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

Khaled admitted that he had listened to the clip but declined to comment when asked for his reactions.

"In politics, people are always looking for an opportunity to make small things bigger and vice versa," he told reporters on Friday (April 9) after presenting RM300 each to 111 recipients of Johor Berkebajikan E-Kasih 2021 aid at Taman Air Biru near here.

Khaled said he was informed that Ahmad Zahid will lodge a police report on the matter.

According to Khaled, as one of the top five persons in Umno, he would not speak to the media on the matter.

"Let the police do their job," he said.

Separately, Khaled said he agreed with Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad that the government should speed up the opening of the border between Malaysia and Singapore.

He said this could only be achieved if the government allowed private clinics and hospitals to carry out Covid-19 vaccinations.

He urged the government to allow those who are willing to pay for vaccination to get it from private clinics or hospitals.

"The Indonesian government is allocating 20 million doses of Covid-19 vaccinations for private clinics and hospitals there," said Khaled.
