Up to Umno delegates to evaluate decision to 'go solo', says Annuar

KUALA LUMPUR: It is up to Umno delegates to evaluate the decision to “go solo” under the Barisan Nasional banner, says Tan Sri Annuar Musa (pic).

Annuar said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, as party president, has the right to “choose his narrative” in his presidential address at the opening of the Umno general assembly.

“It is the president’s right to include what he wants in his policy speech. Now, it is up to Umno and the delegates to evaluate.

“But at least, the president made it clear on his stance that Umno will be going solo. Before this, there’s talk of the party forging alliances or leaving pacts.

“Now, the president has given his explanation and made his stance, so it is now up to the delegates and party members to make their judgement, ” said Annuar, who is Ketereh Umno chief and former Umno secretary-general.

In his address, Ahmad Zahid said Umno will not be partnering up with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia in the 15th General Election.

Instead, Umno will be “going solo” by contesting the election under the Barisan banner with its fellow component parties.
