Second day of Umno general assembly kicks off with raising of 'Sang Saka Bangsa'

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno's flag "Sang Saka Bangsa" was hoisted the party's general assembly to mark its opening on Sunday (March 28) morning.

The ceremony began with the three Umno wings - Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri - raising their flag before party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi raised the party flag along to the party's anthem Bersatu, Bersetia, Berkhidmat at around 8am.

Ahmad Zahid will deliver his presidential address later which will be followed by debates.

Before the ceremony, delegates were reminded to maintain a physical distance of two metres from each other and stickers were laid on the ground to help them estimate the distance.

The two-day general assembly began on Saturday (March 27) with the party's Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri wings holding their assemblies at the KL World Trade Centre (WTC).

The assembly, which was postponed twice because of movement control order restrictions, was in stark contrast to previous assemblies with a smaller crowd in attendance so as to adhere to SOP.
