Umno fighting for ummah, Malay unity for years, says Mohamad Hasan

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno has been fighting for the unity of the ummah and Malays for years, says party deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

He said that while some leaders have been giving the impression that the situation is critical, the contrary was in fact true as Umno and PAS had explored togetherness and this led to several by-election successes.

“To leaders of splinter Malay political parties, please do not talk about unity of ummah with Umno when you have no record whatsoever to prove that you have brought Malays and Malaysians together," said Mohammad.

“Do not talk about the ummah with Umno, if what you know is to fish and pick those who are fast to abandon struggles for the race, ” he added in his speech when opening the meetings of Umno's Wanita, Puteri and Youth wings on Saturday (March 27).

Mohammad said that Umno’s idea of Malay unity is not just to strengthen the position of the Malays but also the importance of national unity.

He added that Umno and Barisan Nasional will continue to fight for the two issues without leaving anyone behind.
