School proud of pupil’s win in art competition

SJK (T) Sepang pupil Thanusia Sivaperumal came in second at an international art competition, Makkal Osai reported.

Six pupils from the school in Sepang, Selangor, took part in the competition which saw 600 students from Malaysia, India, Oman, Singapore, UAE and other countries showcase their drawing skills.

Thanusia’s drawing with the theme of family impressed the judges to net her the silver medal, school headmaster C. Ragu said.



> An 80-year-old woman in Seremban is hoping local leaders will intervene to stop the demolition of her hut, Makkal Osai reported.

Theivanai Pavadai is staying with her disabled 53-year-old son in a small hut on an unused piece of land adjacent to Taman Seremban Jaya.

She built the hut and moved in with her four children in 1988 when she was homeless. Her other three children have moved out.

Local activist Kannes Kanniah who met with the elderly woman called on the city council to hold off on demolishing the woman’s house.
