Contractor rescued after being buried alive while doing cable works in Klang

KLANG: A contractor was rescued after he was buried alive after the ground beneath him collapsed while he was laying cables here.

When contacted, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said the incident occurred at 2.36pm on Monday (March 8) along Jalan Haji Abdul Manam 1, Taman Industri Meru.

We dispatched two fire engines and 13 personnel, and they arrived four minutes later.

"The 22-year-old victim was laying cables in a hole near a drain filled with water. While he was working, the ground collapsed and he was totally buried at least 2.4m under," it said.

It added that the man was successfully extracted at 5.08pm and sent to the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah.

"The victim only suffered minor injuries in the incident," it said.
