Jalan Industri 9 and 11 in Sg Buloh closed for repairs until Oct 1

Sinkholes under repair in Jalan Industri 9.

UPGRADING works to repair two sinkholes along Jalan Industri 9 and the partial collapse of one side of Jalan Industri 11 in Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh, Selangor have started.

Sungai Buloh New Village chief Ho Sook Wan said the Petaling Public Works Department (JKR) has closed the affected roads until Oct 1 to facilitate repairs.

“Two sinkholes appeared at the Sungai Kembit bridge last December but they became bigger over the past few months.

“Rain as well as wear and tear from heavy vehicles plying the road could have resulted in the soil eroding,” she said.

Hoo added that JKR officers visited the site in May and subsequently approved the road repair works in June.

“During the road closure, motorists will have to use another access road to make their way around the area,” she said.

Meanwhile, the collapse of a part of Jalan Industri 11, three months ago, was believed to be caused by heavy vehicles parked at the roadside that resulted in soil erosion.

On a separate matter, Hoo said there would be drainage upgrading works along Jalan Forest in Kampung Bersatu, Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh.

“The village does not have proper drainage.

“A 150m U-shape drain will be built along the road and will likely take two weeks to complete,” she said, adding that the project cost about RM200,000.
