Ismail Sabri: 575 arrested for violating SOP on Wednesday (Feb 10)


PUTRAJAYA: Police have arrested 575 individuals for violating standard operating procedure during the movement control order.

Among offences committed were not practising social distancing, not wearing face masks in crowded public areas, crossing borders without permission and premises’ failure to register customers' details.

Of those arrested on Wednesday (Feb 10), Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 532 were issued with compounds, 39 remanded and four released on bail.

On Ops Benteng, he said 37 illegal immigrants were arrested on Feb 10.

“Authorities also detected the presence of 126 ships in Malaysian waters during sighting activities,” he said on Thursday (Feb 11).

He also said 604 individuals returned to the country on Feb 10 and all were sent for quarantine.
