MCO violations: 168 arrested on Dec 23


PUTRAJAYA: Police arrested 168 individuals for various recovery movement control order violations, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Thursday (Dec 24).

The violations included no social distancing, not putting face masks in crowded places and failure to register customers and activities at entertainment outlets.

Police also on Wednesday (Dec 23) made more than 48,111 checks, including on supermarkets, restaurants, hawkers, factories, government offices, banks and transport terminals to ensure compliance.

Ops Benteng saw the arrest of 49 illegal immigrants and seizure of seven vehicles.

“Action will be taken against those who enter the country illegally. There is no compromise on this, ” he said on Thursday (Dec 24).

Ismail also said tha 35 sanitisation exercises were carried out nationwide on Wednesday.

On mandatory quarantine, since July 24 80,000 individuals returned to Malaysia and had ordered to undergo quarantine at designated stations.
