PETALING JAYA: Three new Covid-19 clusters have been recorded, one each from Selangor, Johor and and Labuan, says Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Dr Noor Hisham said the new cluster in Selangor, known as the Jalan Harapan cluster, was detected in the Sungai Buloh prison.
"The cases from this cluster were detected as a result of the screening of inmates entering the prison on Nov 17.
"As of Nov 21, a total of 113 individuals were screened, with 17 positive from this cluster," he said in a statement on Saturday (Nov 21).
Dr Noor Hisham added that the new cluster detected in Kota Tinggi, Johor, is known as the Kota Kecil cluster.
The index case of this cluster, Dr Noor Hisham said, was detected when a symptomatic individual was screened on Nov 15.
To date, he said 467 individuals have been screened, with nine positive for the virus.
The new cluster in Labuan is known as the Sky Coklat cluster.
"The index case of this cluster was detected when a symptomatic individual was screened on Nov 19," he said, adding that 51 individuals have been screened, with seven testing positive.
Dr Noor Hisham added 327 clusters have been recorded as up until Nov 21, with 168 still active.
Of the 168 clusters, 36 clusters reported an increase in cases.
The highest increase came from the Teratai cluster (299 cases), followed by the Hentian cluster (79), and the Damanlela cluster (43).
Dr Noor Hisham noted that the Bah Kayu and the Lekir clusters have ended, bringing the total number to 159.
