PKR chief’s audience with the King postponed

PETALING JAYA: The audience of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, which was scheduled on Tuesday, has been postponed in light of His Majesty’s hospitalisation.

Istana Negara Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said the King was continuing his treatment under observation at the National Heart Institute.

“His Majesty wishes to thank all the rakyat, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Tun Daim Zainuddin, members of the Cabinet and individuals including Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who have prayed for his health.

“Al-Sultan Abdullah also takes this opportunity to advise the rakyat to remain calm, take care of their health and adhere to standard operating procedures as the country is still facing the threat of the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, ” he said in a statement.

Ahmad Fadli said His Majesty decreed that everyone should prioritise the wellbeing of the rakyat and nation so that Malaysia may continue to be blessed by God.

“Similarly, His Majesty invites everyone to pray along with him to ensure Malaysia will continue to be protected from all forms of threats and to be granted lasting prosperity, ” he said.

On Tuesday, Istana Negara in a statement said the King had been advised to be monitored by the doctors but there was no cause for concern over his condition.

Anwar said he had conveyed his prayers for a speedy recovery through a telephone conversation with the King on Tuesday night.

He said he would seek an audience with the King after His Majesty had regained his health, adding that details would be revealed after this as it was the respectful thing to do.
