SINGER and actress Wani Kayrie is worried that she will be criticised for supposedly taking lightly the discrimination faced by dark-skinned people, Kosmo! reported.
Her worry was sparked off when she started promoting a drama she acted in, Dayang Senandung, which will be aired soon.
Dayang Senandung is a modern adaptation of the tale about a cursed princess.
Wani, whose real name is Syazwani Abdullah, said she had to be careful with every word she uploaded on social media when promoting the drama so that it was not misunderstood.
“For the promotion of the drama, I will make sure my social media captions are accurate and reflective of the whole story, ” she said.
In June, the 20-year-old was criticised when she uploaded a dance video on TikTok of herself wearing blackface during filming of the drama.
Wani said she would promote the drama as it was part of her responsibility to do so.
> A cyclist only realised that he had eaten at someone’s house, instead of a stall, when he asked them for the bill, Harian Metro reported.
Mohd Karbi Mominin, 51, who had cycled about 70km from Tasik Kenyir to Kuala Berang in Terengganu on the first day of Hari Raya Haji, said he stopped at the house in Kuala Berang thinking it was a food stall due to its open layout.
He had only eaten the night before, he said, before setting out on his trip at dawn.
“I was too tired and could not think properly. At the time, there were a man and a child, whom I thought were customers, ” he said, adding that none of the people there said anything.
He “ordered” nasi dagang and a woman served him the rice dish.
“I felt it was odd when the woman gave me a cup of tea although I did not order it, ” he said, adding he only realised his mistake when he wanted to pay for his meal
“I would like to tell the family that their food was very delicious, ” said Mohd Karbi, who cycled 602km in a span of four days from Hulu Klang to Terengganu and back.
