Don't bring kids to shopping complexes, Ismail Sabri tells parents (updated)

PETALING JAYA: Parents are advised not to bring their children to public places and shopping malls for their own safety and health.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Yaakob, however, said if parents continue to defy this, the government will deem it illegal for parents to bring their children out to such places.

The Defence Minister said he had noted many parents are taking their children to shopping malls and public places during the conditional movement control order (MCO).

He said for now, there is no restriction under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act (Act 342) which makes it illegal for parents to bring children out.

"There are no restrictions (for parents) under Act 342 but be responsible. The safety of your children is your responsibility.

"However, if this continues (parents bringing their children out to supermarkets and crowded places), the government will consider making such an act to be illegal," said Ismail Sabri.

He said this during the daily briefing on the conditional MCO measures by the government Monday (May 11).

The conditional MCO, which is a relaxation from the earlier phases, allows a maximum of four people to travel in a car, as well as most businesses to operate.
