Cops seek remand extension against inspector in Mongolian rape case

PETALING JAYA: Police have applied to extend a remand order against an inspector over rape allegations.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said they made the application for remand on Thursday morning (April 16).

"I have been told that the investigation papers were about 40% completed.

"We will refer the case to the deputy public prosecutors office soon," he told reporters after overseeing his personnel conducting patrols under the new Aberdeen Patrol System initiated in the district.

He assured the public that they would thoroughly investigate the case.

Two foreign women were allegedly raped by the police officer in a hotel after they were stopped at a roadblock to enforce the movement control order (MCO).

The suspect, an inspector in his 30s, was arrested based on police intelligence and surveillance.

It is learnt that the Mongolian women were stopped at a roadblock last Friday night (April 10) during a routine check.

Both were then held against their will at a nearby hotel for more than 24 hours before they were rescued.

ACP Nik Ezanee was quoted as saying he was deeply saddened and disappointed over the case.

He said the suspect was acting in his own capacity and promised that stern action would be taken in accordance with the law.
