Wong Chen quarantines self amidst Covid-19 scare

PETALING JAYA: Subang MP Wong Chen has self-quarantined himself for two days, following reports that a former minister and former deputy minister were in close contact with a Covid-19 patient.

The PKR member said tests were currently being conducted on the former ministers.

"The ex-minister and ex-deputy minister have attended many political meetings during the week-long crisis.

"In view of the above, the responsible thing is for me to self quarantine today and tomorrow, until we get the test results of the ex-minister and ex-deputy minister," he tweeted on his Twitter account Monday (March 2).

Online news portal Malaysiakini reported that a Khazanah Nasional Bhd employee was confirmed to have contracted the virus after returning from a trip in Shanghai.

The employee, who is a senior member of the Khazanah Group, had attended a ministry function with the two former ministers.

Wong said as the Khazanah employee had been in close contact with the two ministers, extra precautions have to be taken.

"Please do not panic, the main aim is to be knowledgeable and help contain the spread. Those who have come in contact with a Covid 19 victim, should practice a bit of self quarantine discipline, and if feeling sick, to contact the hospital for tests.

"I am perfectly fine, health wise this morning. I will be working from home and will engage my officers via conference call at 10 am," he tweeted.
