PUTRAJAYA: Interim Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad met with leaders of political parties at his office Tuesday (Feb 25).

Among those who Dr Mahathir met were PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu (PBB) president and Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg.

The Prime Minister’s Office, in a statement Tuesday, said Dr Mahathir had also met with PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu.

“Dr Mahathir also held a meeting with (former PKR deputy president) Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

“He is expected to meet Parti Warisan Sabah's Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal tomorrow (Wednesday, Feb 26), ” said the PMO.

Earlier on Tuesday, Dr Mahathir Mohamad returned to his office at Perdana Putra amidst the political storm raging over the last two days.

The vehicle ferrying him was seen approaching the protocol gate here at 9.29am.

This is the day after the 94-year-old Dr Mahathir resigned as Prime Minister, with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong accepting his resignation.

However, the King has consented for Dr Mahathir to continue running the country as interim Prime Minister until a new premier is appointed and a new Cabinet formed.

Dr Mahathir is the only one from the Pakatan Harapan administration left after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong cancelled the appointments of all Cabinet members.
