Lokman claims he has been sacked from Umno

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Lokman Adam has claimed that he has been sacked as an Umno supreme council member.

He claimed that he was informed by former fellow supreme council members who met at a monthly meeting on Friday (Feb 7) that a majority voted on a motion to sack him from the party.

"As of 8pm, the Umno supreme council WhatsApp group removed me, confirming that I was removed as an Umno member.

"I have yet to receive any formal notice that I was sacked but my sources are reliable and they say a show of hands was made to sack me from the party (over a leaked video)," said Lokman, who did not attend the meeting at the party headquarters here.

Lokman has said that he has an audio recording of party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi saying that he does not mind Umno working with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He said Umno needed leaders who were prepared to fight to defend the people and not those who were “willing to compromise with those in power”.

When met after the meeting, Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa neither confirmed nor denied Lokman's allegation.

He said he would issue a statement on Saturday (Feb 8) on "further matters" discussed at the supreme council meeting.

Earlier, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said Lokman will be referred to the party's disciplinary board over the leaked audio recording implicating Ahmad Zahid.

The Kinabatangan MP said this when speaking to the media after a four-hour supreme council meeting at the party headquarters.
