Bung: Lokman Adam to be referred to Umno's disciplinary board over leaked audio

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Adam will be referred to the party's disciplinary board over a leaked audio recording implicating party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, says Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

The Kinabatangan MP said this when speaking to the media after a four-hour supreme council meeting at the party headquarters here on Friday (Feb 7).

However, he said that the main issue discussed was on Umno and PAS working together and not on collaborating with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia of the ruling coalition Pakatan Harapan.

"The term is muafakat nasional (national collaboration), not Pakatan Nasional. We discussed this and we will be meeting PAS on Saturday (Feb 8) to strengthen our collaboration for the next general election," said Bung.

"However, if Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad does well in Parliament and there is a no confidence vote against him, I will support him," he added.

Bung said this when asked whether there was any talk in the meeting on Umno lending support to the Prime Minister.

He was replying to the media on whether the leaked audio was discussed.

Ahmad Zahid has been in the news due to the leaked audio in which the party president claimed that he doesn't mind Umno working with Dr Mahathir.

Lokman has said that he has an audio recording of Ahmad Zahid speaking on the matter. He said Umno needed leaders who were prepared to fight to defend the people and not those who were “willing to compromise with those in power”.

Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abd Rahman, when asked if the supreme council discussed the leaked video, said,"it is all history now".

Among other matters discussed were the post-mortem of the Kimanis by-election in which Umno won hands down against Warisan.

A statement issued after the supreme council meeting stated that Umno was worried over the fate of the Malays due to Pakatan's failure to protect Malay rights.
