Wee questions why Manogaran not stopped from entering voting centre

PETALING JAYA: MCA has taken the Election Commission (EC) to task for not stopping Pakatan Harapan candidate M. Manogaran from entering a polling centre in Cameron Highlands with attire displaying the coalition's logo.

"I am not surprised that EC issued a face-saving statement saying Manogran was asked to leave.

"The question is, how was Manogran allowed into the polling centre? No police personnel?" he questioned in a Facebook post on Saturday (Jan 26).

"Is this not negligence on the part of EC staff for allowing a candidate to blatantly enter the polling centre bearing the Harapan logo?

"If they wanted him to leave, they should have done so before he crossed the school gate," he posted.

Wee said if a Barisan Nasional candidate had pulled such a stunt during the 14th General Election, that person would have been severely criticised.
