PUTRAJAYA: Former treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah arrived at the Jalan Duta Courts Complex at around 8.15am, joined shortly afterwards by former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, to answer criminal breach of trust charges.
The former prime minister and the former Treasury secretary-general are expected to be charged with committing CBT involving amounts of RM1.2bil, RM655mil, RM220mil, RM1.3bil, RMB1.95bil (RM1.261bil) and RM2bil.
They will be charged at the Sessions Court here.
Mohd Irwan came to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission headquarters here at 8.15am in a black MPV, followed by Najib a little later.
The two are to be slapped with six counts of criminal breach of trust involving money belonging to the Malaysian government.
The amount of CBT involved is said to be in the region of RM6.636bil, according to sources.
At around 9.00am, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was spotted at the court complex, as he turned up in a show of support.
On Wednesday (Oct 24), Najib and Dr Mohd Irwan were separately summoned to the MACC as prosecutors prepare to charge them.
While Najib was released at 5pm, Mohd Irwan was arrested at 3.35pm. Also to be charged today is former spy agency chief Datuk Hasanah Abdul Hamid.
The former director-general of the Malaysian External Intelligence Organisation is facing one count of criminal breach of trust involving US$12mil belonging to the Malaysian government.
