PETALING JAYA: Nasi kandar boss Burhan Mohamed knows that at the heart of every Malaysian is love for good food and the nation.

And these two have come together at the Original Penang Kayu Nasi Kandar outlet in SS2, where special edition #RaiseTheFlagMY flags from The Star have been put on display.

Burhan, who is managing director of the nasi kandar chain, said their patrons can expect to see a mini version of the Jalur Gemilang on their mee goreng, roti tisu and other selected meals on National Day.

“To support The Star’s Raise The Flag campaign, we’ll do it for the first time this year for all our 10 outlets nationwide,” he said.

The Raise The Flag initiative will run until Malaysia Day on Sept 16.

Aset Kayamas is the main sponsor while Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd is co-sponsor.

Under the campaign, special four-page spreads will enable Malaysians to cut out and assemble their own mini flags.

There will also be a T-shirt template with the newspaper’s centrespread.

Decorate the template with a Malaysian motif and be photographed “wearing” it while holding the flags.

Best poses should be hashtagged #RaiseTheFlagMY on social media. On Facebook, you can share it as: raisetheflagmy.

Prizes await the best photos.

To bulk order any of the special Raise The Flag issues slated for Aug 12, Aug 18 and Sept 14, contact The Star’s Customer Care unit at 1-300-88-7827 (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm).
