Sosilawati’s children relieved justice has been served

PETALING JAYA: The children of the late Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya are relieved that the Federal Court has upheld the death sentences of three of the men accused of her murder.

Sosilawati’s eldest child Erni Dekritawati Yuliana Buhari, better known as Rita Sosilawati, said she thanked God that the matter was finally resolved.

Her family could finally find closure after seven long years, she said.

“My siblings and I are grateful for the Federal Court’s decision, and accept it with open hearts,” she said, sounding relieved during an interview with mStar Online.

Speaking on behalf of her five siblings, she also thanked the authorities for seeking justice for her family, and the Malaysian public for its continuous support.

Rita, who was not present in court yesterday, said she was surprised to hear one of the accused was acquitted, though she maintained that she respected the Federal Court’s findings.

Recalling the time she testified against her mother’s murderers, Rita said she could not bear to look them in the face due to the anger she felt towards them.

Rita said the family would be holding prayers for their late mother next week.
