Civil Defence man dies after being bitten by king cobra


KUANTAN: A Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) sergeant who was reportedly bitten by a king cobra while conducting a demonstration at a programme in Temerloh on Saturday (Aug 22) has died.

Pahang APM director Colonel (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said Sergeant (PA) Muhamad Muazam Shah Kamardin, 39, died at about 1.50am on Sunday (Aug 23).

"He died while receiving treatment at Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah in Temerloh," he said when contacted.

Col Che Adam said Sgt Muazam Shah’s remains were laid to rest at the Kampung Bukit Kelulut Cemetery in Temerloh.

The victim was reported to have been bitten on his finger at 10.50am yesterday and left the programme venue to wash the wound.

He fainted outside the hall and was rushed to hospital for treatment. – Bernama
