Bukit Aman probes illegal street race after video shows expressway blocked

PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating an illegal street racing incident along the Linkedua Expressway in Johor after a video showing motorcyclists blocking traffic went viral on social media.

The Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) confirmed receiving a report on the clip, which shows two motorcyclists racing along the stretch from the Senai Utara Toll Interchange toward the Johor Premium Outlets (JPO) Interchange on Aug 22.

In the video shared on Threads, a group of individuals can be seen halting highway traffic to allow the race to take place, before setting off fireworks into the sky to celebrate.

Police have identified an individual believed to have been present at the scene and are working with highway operator PLUS Malaysia Berhad to retrieve CCTV footage from the area.

Kulai JSPT is currently conducting investigations to identify the riders and spectators involved. Further updates will be released as the probe progresses.
