Woman killed in food court car collision

KAJANG: A woman was tragically killed by a falling pole after a car crashed into a food court here.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said it occurred when a 35-year-old man crashed his car into the food court after accidentally pressing the accelerator pedal.

This led to the car crashing straight into the dining area.

“As the driver tried to leave the premises, the victim ran toward the car to block its path. However, the vehicle hit a nearby pole, causing it to topple directly onto her,” ACP Naazron said in a statement yesterday.

Medical officers later pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The driver was arrested and is undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Police confirmed he has no criminal record.
